Brilliant focus on enterprise and entrepreneurial skills in the Sunday Telegraph this week. As a former entrepreneur, I am all too familiar with the challenges and possibilities inherent in running your own business. We desperately need a radical culture of entrepreneurship in the UK.

The Sunday Telegraph Interview with Terry Leahy, former CEO of Tesco, highlighted the need to address the antipathy towards business and wealth creation. Starting with advising young people on starting their own businesses whilst at school - encouraging ambition and providing the skills needed for successful business management along with more traditional careers advice.

The coverage of the Enterprise awards underlined the great examples of innovation we produce in the UK- from fertility treatments to computer games. Awards such as these not only provide a vital funding lifeline to small businesses, but provide a vital showcase for our best entrepreneurs and innovations and encourage others to follow suit.
